Press Release, The Bazaar, Jun 1, 2007

AMSTERDAM/UTRECHT -- The Bazaar, a whole day of workshops, lectures, films, debates and interviews, brings the symbol of the fear and destruction to the Netherlands: the wreckage of a car bomb that has been used in the bomb attack on Mutannabbi Street bookmarket on 5 March 2007. The bookmarket was the meeting place for writers, artist en students from the different ethnic and social groups in Baghdad.

With this symbolic and powerful action the Bazaar wants to demand attention for the horrible fate of the civilians in Iraq. Together with some Dutch and Iraqi public figures the audience in Amsterdam is invited to reflect on the situation in Iraq, to express their feelings toward their fellow human beings and to think about a way out of the war, terror and violence.

Foremost the Bazaar wants to express solidarity and support for all those people in and outside Iraq that despite the grim situation keep on dreaming and fighting for a better future. From 17.00 the Bazaar starts "The War on Error" , in the Melkweg in Amsterdam with discussions and debates on two hot conflicts in the War on Terror: Lebanon and Iraq.
